Well, i came here quite some time ago and got help with some sticky problems, which were fixed, thanks to all the helpful people in the forum. Then the computer was stolen, so this is the first time i've had to do anything. Got a small notebook for Christmas last year. Now, unfortunately, i have something using my email id to send ads to people on my mailing list as well as to people i've never heard of. I did read your notes about how to keep your computer safe and i am using avira antivirus, spyware blaster and spybot. I am running windows 7 and use windows live hotmail. Unfortunately, i am not very up to date on email problems, or how to deal with them. If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate them. This invasion of my privacy is driving me crazy, (and probably a lot of other people are being driven crazy by this nasty thing that keeps sending them ads asking them to try out some kind of on line business thing and it's being sent from my computer with my email address on it..).
In the past, i always came to majorgeeks for finding the best programs, advice etc. so i'm sure someone will have a solution for this annoying problem. Thank you, in advance, for any help, and suggestions you may have.

Welcome to MG, questra25 :wave Sounds like you have some issues:
First, I would suggest that since you are using hotmail, to change your password immediately, as whoever is doing this, has most likely gotten your info off of the stolen computer. Changing the password would be first .

Now, how to do it. Go to hotmail, look for the SETTINGS button on the upper right corner. Then, click MORE SETTINGS, now look for MANAGE YOUR ACCOUNT, then click onto this: View and edit your personal information You can change your password there.

Now, after doing that, you still have issues, please post back in the Software thread. Hope this helps;)

Are you sure that your computer is sending these spam messages, or is it just spammers forging your email address into the 'From:' headers? If so, there is unfortunately nothing you can do about it.
