Hi, I'm having a problem with the games I'm playing. My FPS dropped tremendously. Before I had reformatted my computer if I was running Counter-Strike:Source on the stress test I'd go pass 300FPS with no problem. Left 4 Dead gave me roughly around 60-80FPS with other players, while having 80-100FPS in single player mode. After the reformat my FPS in Counter-Strike:Source dropped to an average of 190-200FPS in the stress test and Left 4 Dead would be on the average of 13-20FPS.

These are the things I've tried, but hasn't helped at all.
    Re-installed drivers
Installed certain drivers that supposedly worked better
Installed each driver separately and checked the FPS no luck
    Installed ALL the drivers
    Rolled back drivers
Tried reformatting again to make sure something wasn't missed
Checked the settings in the control panel to enable/disable Physx

I used 3dMark06 right after reformatting and having the drivers that came with my graphics card my benchmark was higher than my benchmark after the updates by roughly 2000. Something doesn't sound right to me...

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

BTW, these are my computer specs.

    OS: Windows Professional 32bit
PSU: Coolmax (I forgot which one, but I know it has enough power for the gfx card)
CPU: Intel Core Duo E8400 3.00GHz
    MOBO: ASUS P5N D - nForce 750i
GFX: EVGA GeForce 9800GTX SSC 512MB
    RAM: Corsair 2x 2GB DDR2

    Welcome to MG :wave

My first suggestion would be to get an older driver, not quite as old as the on that came with your nVidia card, but maybe one or two versions older than the latest. Try another bench with that & see what happens then.

I see quite a bit of info through various mediums that say you can always roll back drivers & get more from your system, of course drivers are supposed to speed up your performance as much as currently possible. I always found it curious that I had the same driver for my old 8600GT as my newer 9600GT when searching on the nVidia site for a new driver. I think the ATI driver section is much better, it's a little more detailed than nVidia:

Select Product: ViGA, Mainboard Solutions, Mutimedia

Then you select the exact model from the next 2 menus: SAPPHIRE HD 4800 Series

    Sapphire HD 4870 1G GDDR5 PCI-E

That way I get the exact driver for my card, I find it much batter anyway LOL

    Hi

What Version and Service Pack level is your Windows? (guessing its XP, so make sure your at least at SP2/3 with all updates)

Also what DirectX version you have installed? (should be at 9.0c)

Do you have the EVGA percision program installed?

Make sure your video card is not overheating, sometimes with new installs and new updated drivers and such, it can change the way your GPU can run and it could run a little hot, with that program you can manually set the fan speed on your GPU so you can set it to 100% while gaming to keep it cool so its not under stress, just an idea, im not a tech geek.
