One, Trend Micro Hijack This. I recently went to Avast! anti-virus from AVG. I also replaced Ad-aware with SuperAntiSpyware.

    Halo!

We had a discussion about Firefox browser being a factor in preventing malware infecting a PC. You stated that anyone who thought Firefox prevented infestations was sorely mistaken. Could you care to elaborate? Our discussion was crudely interrupted by the moderator (;).

I'm serious, I do value your opinion. I am not a flamer!

For starters, most malware comes from downloads, rather than browsing.

Of course, this thread is hardly the place for this discussion(off base from subject).

  11. cobrajet431

None on that list...I also axed Ad-Aware 2007 (aaservice.exe = ridiculous mem usage for not real-time protection :kissmy); have A-Squared Free, Spybot S&D, and Superantispyware for on demand.
Replaced AVG with AOL Active Virus Shield a few months ago and am real happy with it.

Why don't you guys put out the word on BOClean...it should certainly be in the top 10 if more people knew about it ;)

    3 of 10

    #2 - QuickTime Alternative
    #3 - Ad-Aware 2007
    #4 - EVEREST Free Edition

No need of #1 - HijackThis so far
Avast, Winpatrol, Spyware Blaster, Internet Explorer 7 and myself working well together :)

  13. pondhopper

    AVG & EVEREST.

Used to use Avast, but had a problem with it- after 3 years of use.

I must be one of the few still using AdAware 2007, with no problems. ;)

I agree with axing the service.exe. I have a vbs batch file that I run to load all the programs that I use when logging onto the Internet. It is also setup to delete the service.exe's for AdAware and A squared, as they both start up automatically, whether you want them or not. :p

There is probably a more refined way to select options, so these don't start up, but the vbs file works for me. :D Bazza

    No need for the
    LOL I'm only using 2.
I just thought I ask to see if the Top 10 of the week had any relevance to what we are actually using. Bazza
