major internet problem

hi im not sure if this is the right area to post this thread seen as i am new to the website but here goes.

i encountered a problem the other day, when i tried to load my internet explorer it launches a page called "about:blank" as it's title and a search for... engine in the main window. i have tried to change the home page several times and it always changes back, i cant visit hotmail or any e-mail website because it sends me back to the home page.

i have run:
spyware search and destroy
adaware 6
spyware doctor

yet none have found any virus that if affecting my internet,
can someone help me fix this problem please.....
