    Hello Everyone,

Im trying to follow protocol of the site but my desktop will not allow me to do much. it seems as if all folders, files and programs are empty. This all started about a week ago, when I started getting audio pop ups, and Google redirects which I have never gotten before. A program called "Open Cloud AV" keeps informing me of a problem however I never downloaded and certainly didnt install. AVG keeps informing me of a Blackhole Rootkit being blocked. I visited another site, which I need to say the person helping me was very patient and prompt, suggest I reinstall MS Windows. This is all over my comprehension or computers and need serious direction. I have a Dell 530s (I know a dinosaur) and am running MS Windows XP Home edition. In the instructions it stated I could use a flash drive to download programs to help clean computer....Can I infect my laptop doing this? Thanks in advance....Greg

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Download and save the below tool from Grinler @ bleepingcomputer to your Desktop or anywhere else you can find it ( if the Desktop is not showing )

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/unhide.exe

    Now run it.

After doing the above, hopefully some missing items will return. Then continue on to the below.

Please download and run the below tool named Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) which may help allow other programs to run.
There are 4 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.

Vista and Win7 users need to right click and choose Run as Administrator

You only need to get one of them to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
    1. Rkill.exe
    2. Rkill.com
    3. Rkill.scr
    4. Rkill.pif
If you are having problems running Rkill, try downloading one of the below renamed copies of RKill
Now if Rkill ran, immediately run Malwarebytes and fix anything it finds. Then reboot. Then try to continue with the READ & RUN ME FIRST.
