Ok I am having major java software issues. Started yesterday, and I have been trying to fix it ever since. I am running Vista and am dealing with Java 6-11 and tried to install Java 6-12 but it won't let me. Up until yesterday morning I have never had a problem, but went to work and could not access the chat room I use for it. I uninstalled and reinstalled of course, didn't work and have since tried a million things.

As of this current moment, I do not have java installed on my computer. ( I have uninstalled and reinstalled by now probably a dozen times. ) I used Javara to remove all older version of Java, restarted and when I try to install it I am told that java is already installed on my computer.

It asks if I want to install it anyway, I say yes and at first it would give me an error message about something to do with a DLL, and now it is saying this:

"This action is only valid for for products that are currently installed"

I have tried system restore, that does not work. I have used Javara like I said but it still shows that I have some kind of java installed on my system. I use VISTA and as of yesterday the only place I could find anything to do with Java was in add/remove and in the programs folder.

As of today, there is a java icon in my control panel under programs ( NOT add/remove ) and I can't delete it. When I right click and open it, it takes me to a java control panel and when I tried the update button there it says I already have the newest version (even though it's not installed) when I double click on the icon it says APPLICATION NOT FOUND. Like what the hell? lol That wasn't in there yesterday, but now it is??

I need Java for work, and as of this time I am absolutely clueless. Can anyone help me?

I would try installing Java 6u11 again to determine a system problem or a specific problem with 6u12. If successful, you can then try installing 6u12 on top of 6u11 (since version 6u10, uninstalling previous versions is no longer necessary). Java 6u11 (stand alone installer)

Someone else here might have some thoughts on it, or if you're still having a problem it might be best to post this on the Java Forum.
