Okay, I am not sure where to start here. I was having issues with my display with flickering horizontal lines that came and went. Eventually I wasn't able to start up my computer without getting a BSOD. I was able to start my computer in safe mode with networking and found out that the minidump log stated that I had an error in my nvidia display driver. I then did a little research, and found online that some people were able to start back up in normal mode if they uninstalled their current nvidia drivers. By the way I have a nvidia geforce 7900 gt/gto graphic card. I went ahead and did that, and I am currently able to start in normal mode once again. I tried redownloading current drivers for my card, but every time I do that I get the BSOD again. I also noticed that I have weird display issues with little colored dots everywhere, especially during start up with the black background. I would really like my nvidia driver enabled again, but I am unsure how to do so. Please help. Thanks.

You could try uninstall the driver and even the leftovers using this tool

    http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

    running it

in normal mode ( delete the graphic driver )
    reboot it

    go to

    save mode doing the same
    reboot it

after this procedure you could download and install the new drivers properly !! :wave

Okay, I did what you asked. I removed all remnants of my old drivers using driver sweeper. Now when I try to redownload drivers it says, "Nvidia set up program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware".

Now I do not know what to do. Please help.

Here are my specs that you asked for. They are attached.

And yes I tried downloading the driver from the nvidia website, but every time I do it, my computer asks me to restart to finish the download process and after it tries to restart I just get the BSOD and it restarts again. I then have to disable the drive in safe mode in order to get normal boot up again.

Do you have any yellow mark in Device Manager ? :wave

Yes there is a yellow triangle with an explanation point inside it next to my graphic card in display adapters, but I believe that is only because I disabled the driver, correct? The only way I can boot into normal mode is if it is disabled. Otherwise, I get a BSOD when I try to boot into normal mode. I can only boot into safe mode when it is enabled.

Is this the driver you downloaded?

If yes, enable the graphics (video) adapter in the Device Manager, reboot your computer in the Windows Safe Mode, and try installing the above driver from Nvidia.

Hmmm, these typically indicate hardware issues. Looks like the card is dying a slow death. In any case, please try the above suggestion first.

If all else fails, you may just have to switch to a new video card.

I spent two days looking for a driver that would work with the Nvidia GeForce 7900 GT-OC or it shows up as NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT/GTO Number on bottom of board "BFGR79256GTOCE" for Windows 7. I kept getting the BSOD or strange dots all over the screen and Strange artifacts where I couldn't read the screen. I read all over the web that everyone was having the same luck. well guess what? I FOUND A DRIVER THAT WORKS!!!all you have to do is go to this site, put your email in their form (I guess it's to prove that they didn't charge you for the driver?), then they will let you download it. here is the page for the download http://driverscollection.com/?file_cid=42128945364a5315edc8c720dca you just have to choose either Windows Vista OR Windows 7. The name of the Driver for Windows 7 is 257.21_desktop_win7_winvista_32bit_english_whql I didn't even have to scrub the old driver first. at first it had some dots on screen then I rebooted, set C-mos to Optimal Defaults. saved settings rebooted then all was fixed!!! Good luck Guys Don't give up, this should work! P.S. DO NOT let Windows update to the newer driver!
