I have a Pavilion dv6000 laptop 2 gig ram, nvidea go 6150, AMD Turion duel. Vista Home Prem.

I have a major issue going on. I am in the process of learning web design and in the process I have been downloading and installing many programs to suit the needs of my classes. I am not so computer literate but know my way around a little bit. I am not sure what caused my latest issues, I am sure one of the many programs I install and uninstal. I made the mistake of not backing up my last registry clean I made with two programs. Regcure, and uniblue regbooster 2. and in the process of cleaning up some old files I cleaned out the older restore points wich really screwed me I thingk now. Because my issue is a runtime erro. It is runtime error 216 @ 0372396A. This is the error I get trying to open any of my folders. It is frustrating and before I do a full re format I was hoping maybe someone here could guide me in some steps to try and correct this. I can not even get to my files to create a back up to do a recovery, I will lose everything. I am not going to die if this happens lol but I sure would like to try and not have to lose it all.
I can not even open the my Computer to do a clean disk. Any folder I open stays open for about 12 seconds then I get the runtime error.
What I have done, I ran a full virus scan with nod32 antivirus. I ran both Spybot and adaware and cleaned all the temp files I could get to. Even when I go to safe mode now, just after hitting f8 the files that load would load normaly in seconds. Now it loads verry slow but the files do open in safe mode I noticed so I can backup what I need there I think.
Any way this is all new to me as far as runtime errors and I did google it but I am running the regcure that is sugested to fix this problom.
I tried to do a windows update but again the window wont stay open long enough for me to do it. And in safe mode I could not get win update to open at all. I did just update by way of windows auto updating SP1 for vista, two days agao. I did not notice this happening untill today so am not sure if that has anything to do with it.
can some one give me a bit of help here.

    I certainly do apreciate it.
    Thanks
    Danny

    Hello Danny

I am so sorry to hear of the difficulty that you are experiencing with your computer. I cannot comment on all of your issues, but I can give you some information about RegCure and the customer support email address for Paretologic's RegCure so that you can seek further assistance if needed.

RegCure is one of the safest removal tools on the market and it is rare that it will remove something that a user requires but it can happen. RegCure does create a backup and restores easily if something is found to be awry after a cleaning.

Registry items listed on the error list can be invalid when associated with non-existing folders or files. However, some entries may be valid. It is recommended that you only remove items that you know are invalid.

To restore these files please open RegCure and follow these instructions:

Click Backup > select the applicable Backup Files> then click Restore to bring back the items that were removed and your prior settings should work. On rare occasions our software will detect registry keys that are considered valid and it will use other shared application files to run.

If you are still experiencing difficulty, I would like to invite you to send a description of your issue and your RegCure log files to our Helpdesk for further assistance.

To do so, please navigate to the location where RegCure is installed and open the 'Logs' folder in the RegCure program files.

    C:\Program Files\RegCure\Logs\

If you are having trouble locating the 'Logs' folder please follow these steps:

    1) Locate the RegCure icon on your Desktop or in the Start Menu.
    2) Please right-Click the RegCure icon and select 'Properties' in the menu that appears.
    3) Now under the 'Shortcut' tab please click on the 'Find Target…' button to open the folder containing the RegCure program files and the 'Logs' folder.
    4) The "Logs" folder will include a number of files that are in ZIP format and named to correspond with the date of each scan (Ex: Regcure-18-06-07-09-57-57.zip).
    5) Please attach the zipped RegCure log file to an email, once the log file is attached please send it to us at support@regcure.com

Could you please also send us a screen capture of any error message that you are receiving?

Here is how to do it:

    1. Press the "PrtScn" key on your keyboard (it should be just next to the F12 key).
** After pressing the "PrtScn" key you will not receive a prompt or notification that anything has occurred.
    2. Then open Microsoft Word, or Paint (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint)
    3. Click the Edit menu and choose Paste.
    4. Save the document and email it to us please.

May we also ask you to answer a few questions in your email, so that we may assist you with resolving the issue?

Which Windows Operating System are you currently using?

Do you have all the current windows updates installed?

Are you running active and up to date Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus programs?

    Are you using remote access?

Have you made any serious hardware changes to your computer?

Do you have a router on your computer for either a firewall or allowing multiple computers to the internet?

If so do you have a wireless or wired router?

Are you using high speed or dial up internet?

Is your computer a desktop or laptop computer?

These files will help to give us a better view of your computer and may help our technical team to determine the cause of the problem you are currently experiencing.

We look forward to the opportunity to be of service to you.

    Kindest Regards

Thank you so much for your response and advice. Unfortunately I already did a full system recovery. But I believe after reading your reply, and doing a little investigating I don't think regcure caused my problem. It was most likely one of the many programs I was installing. I will certainly be much more careful and of course keep good back ups. But I will continue to use regcure because like you said it is the safest registry cleaner on the market.
Thank you for the contact info I will certainly keep it for future issues if need be.
Once again thanks for your help.
    :)
