    Hi All,
Any help on this issue VERY gratefully received. I've got a Toshiba laptop, running Vista and have Norton Internet Security. All had been fine until I updated the Norton to an updated version. Since then I have had major problems boOting up and actually getting on to the computer. I have uninstalled and re-installed the Norton, and have looked at the system in safe mode.
I did find a problem with consumer IR device - code 31.
More importantly I have now had the blue screen with the following info:
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    STOP: 0X000000CA (0xC04C9000, 0X0000000, 0X0000000, 0X852CF7AD)

I can get onto the computer in safe mode but not normally.
Where do I go from here? Thanks.

    Hi,
Update for this..........I went to the bother of using a recovery disc to try and solve this so was back to square one with the whole system!
Despite this I still had the consumer IR device code 31 problem.
Following a suggestion from the Norton Community I opened the cover for the memory cards, simply moved them a little, closed it up and HEY PRESTO!! the computer is working well again.
So best advice - if you have a code 31 prob as above try wobbling the memory cards first before ANYTHING else.

    Hope that proves helpful.
    R
