    Hi there,

I've recently upgraded to Firefox V3.0.3 and it worked quite well for a couple of weeks....

Now I seem to have a situation where it's falling over left, right and centre...

It's highly irritating to say the least!!!!

Do you know if this is a common problem or if there is a patch?

    I'm using Vista....

    Your help is appreciated....

    Regards

    Greg

I'm confused Greg , what do you mean falling over?

    Hey buggabear,

What I mean is that a message would come up saying that Firefox is not responding and that Windows is closing it down (and looking for a solution).

Then I would have to go through the process of launching Firefox and restoring all the sessions I had going....

Hope that explains it a little better...

    Regards

    Hey guys,

This situation has me so frustrated....

I moved to Firefox because everyone said it was far better and more stable...
I'm starting to think that IE is better....

    Am I wrong?

Are there some fixes out there?

    Regards

    Greg

Have you run it in safe mode? (programs then Mozilla Firefox, then Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode) ) It could be a theme or addon causing the crash/freeze.

    Hey plodr,

Just so I understand, running in safe mode disables all the plugins?

    Let me know...

    Hey Mark,

Thanks for the reply and for the link....

I've never ever got any kind of "talk back" window asking for an error report...

So it must be my system....

I've got a 1year old HP notebook workstation, with 2GB memory and my hard drive has only about 4GB free space left on the D partition.(about 11GB free space on the C partition)

Do you think I'm running out of resources?

Should I buy another 2GB memory and a bigger hard drive?

    Regards

    Thanks Mark,

I've heard that having additional RAM doesn't have that much of an effect...

But my hard drive is a problem....I'm going to have to clear up some space urgently.....who knows, it might be that that's causing Firefox to malfunction...

I will follow the diagnostic plan as laid out...

    Thanks

    Regards

    Hey Mark,

    You're awesome....

Thanks for going out of your way to help a stranger....it's much appreciated!!!

Yip, CCleaner is a fantastic tool...

    How do you "compact" folders?

    Regards

    Hey Mark,

    Please explain a bit further....

The first thing isI thought that if you deleted emails etc, they are completely deleted...

Secondly, what does this "compact" actually do? And do you have easy access to those stored emails afterwards?

    Regards

    Greg

    Hey Mark,

    Thanks for clearing that up....

What I understood was that there was a function that could be used to "compact" or "compress" the files, thereby reducing space used on the hard drive....

    Regards

    Greg
