Major Program Bug

Hey guys, I'm new here. I consider myself to be servicable at fixing and maintaing my computer, but I have encountered a major bug I need help with. Every time I use two major programs, Microsoft Word and Itunes, my computer screen freezes. The frames get all fuzzy with a colored grid which freezes my computer. It occasionally happens while I browse the internet, but I really need help so that I can use my new itunes program. Does anyone know how to fix this, or if it is a common problem? It may be how I downloaded the programs, but I'm not sure. Any help or guesses would be fantastic. Thanks in advance!

who ever does is gonna have to at least know what OS & ver of the OS ( + programs )your using
