Making a graph in Microsoft Excel

I'm stumped. I need to create a graph and I don't know what I'm doing. I've got Office XP Student Edition.

I have four sets of data values (concentration of solution and salinity reading) and I need to plot these values on a graph of concentration vs salinity. Basically I just need to have "concentration" on the y-axis and "salinity" on the x-axis. The problem is that Excel only lets me enter values on the y-axis and insists on using pregressively increasing integers (1, 2, 3, 4...) on the x-axis. I need to get it to graph my points.

Have I lost you? Any help, please?

If you didn't get that, here's an example that is the same as my problem. Walk me through it and I'll be fine.

Suppose that you have four sets of data. One is a processor speed and the other is a year. (For the record, I'm pulling numbers out of my butt for this example). These values are 10MHz and 1990; 100MHz and 1993; 1000MHz and 200; 10000MHz and 2005. You need to create a graph of CPU speed vs year. How would you do this?

Oh, and one more thing. I need to have a best-fit straight line between all the points so that I can extrapolate Concentration from Salinity Reading (or CPU speed from the year)

Like all things Internet, a knowledgeable buddy on IM beats a bunch of smart people on a message board in terms of speed.

Thanks for taking the time to think of how to help me out, though :)
