Making the avatar smaller!!!!

I want to add a costum avatar from my computer, but is too big (96x96 and 8.87 kb) so i want to know how to make it smaller.

what type of file is it? i have a 64x48 and it's still over 8 kbs. i have it saved as jpeg. should i save it as a different type? and other than photoshop, i dont know what you would use.

 

I use Image Analyzer which is a freeware and easy too use. Just do the following.

- Download the zip file from here http://meesoft.logicnet.dk/Analyzer/index2.php
- Then open up the program (analyzer.exe)
- Load up your image (F3)
- Go to the Image Tab at the top and select Resize...
- Type in your image size
- Click OK
- Click on Save As
- Click on File Format option
- Click on the JPEG tab
- Tick off the box that says Specify File Size
- Click Close
- Then save your image

Interesting timing... I tried uploading (and pointing the URL at) a custom image to use an an avatar here, and I kept getting a message telling me the image was larger than 64x64 (which they weren't)... Just curious if there's some magic required to get a custom avatar to work on this board!

 

The maximum size allowed is 64 by 64 pixels or 7.8 KB (whichever is smaller).

 

My sample avatars are smaller than 64x64 (64x56, 4.8k), and MG keeps telling me it's too big...

 

It should go through then.

What format is it? Try saving it in another format perhaps?
