    Hello,
I tried to download a free version of a novel off of 2shared.com but instantly got a nasty virus. My computer is as slow as a snail and numerous advertisements and pop ups and sounds come up. For example, every time I click on any part of a web page atleast one ad pops up.

I followed your steps and downloaded the 4 softwares but after completing the tasks, the virus is still here and it is viscous! I have attached the logs.

    Thank you so much.
    Jamie.

Please rerun MBAM and have it remove everything it found.

Then rerun RogueKiller and have it fix these items:
    Code:
    ¤¤¤ Registry : 37 ¤¤¤

Now rerun Hitman and have it remove all that it found.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :files
    C:\Users\Jamie\AppData\Local\Temp\*.*
    C:\windows\tasks\GIOB.job
    C:\windows\tasks\temp_14801c27-ab43-4ee2-8964-f08a2226f3e0-6.job

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [ResetHosts]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.

Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach this log file to your next message.

Reboot and rerun both RogueKiller ,Hitman and MBAM and attach those logs in your next reply.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).Make sure that you watch for the license agreement for TrendMicro HijackThis and click on the Accept button TWICE to accept ( yes twice ).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * RogueKiller
    * C:\MGlogs.zip
    *Hitman
    * MBAM
    * OTM log

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

What is reporting the virus? What browsers are you using and why do you not have any anti-virus software installed?

Not a malware problems. These are just mouse over ads that popup when your mouse moves over various underlined keywords. Many websites, including Major Geeks, use these as a source of revenue to help offset costs of running a free website and forums like this. ;)

    Are you absolutely sure?

Because pop ups also come up when I go to Google. And my ccomputer is awfully slower than usual.... I think there still may be issues.

I have attached an example of when i was on Google.

Pop up's from Malware Bytes. Are you using the paid for version of Malware Bytes, or have you activated the free trial for it? It looks that way to me.

    The free trial...
    Should I uninstall it?

Yes, just uninstall it, reinstall > and ensure you choose the free version to run. ;)

Did you install and anti-virus program? You might want to try Avira if not. Run it and let us know if it finds anything. ( Attach a log if possible.)

Re run Hitman and have it fix the Host File.

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
    • Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Attach the logfile to your next next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:
    :Files
    C:\Program Files (x86)\globalUpdate
    C:\Program Files (x86)\predm
    C:\windows\SysNative\drivers\ikgjy.sys

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into a text file to ATTACH into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Ensure the machine has had a reboot.

Now re run Hitman Pro and attach log.

Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running!

Did you install an antivirus program like Tim asked??
