Mall Tycoon II help

    My niece installed Mall tycoon II and all seemed fine until she hit....play, the only thing that happened is it brought her back to the desktop and nothing else......no error message or the like

    How in the world is this problem fixed?
    she has windows xp

    This happened with this game twice now.......she returned one that did the same thing thinking it was a bad cd.....apparently not???

    install dx9.0b and update your graphics driver; if that doesnt work try changing compatability mode to w98
