Hello, I'm a new member and am going to ask for an opinion here. Is Malwarbytes 4 a good anti-virus / malware protection? Or is it a waste of 40 bucks. I would appreciate only honest answers. Thank you

Fortunately, I purchased 5 copies when lifetime licenses were offered. I run it on 5 computers. It protects 4 areas: web, malware, ransomware and exploit. From time to time, it blocks me from going to a site that has hosted malware. I appreciate that when I am looking for information on programs.
Here is a recent review https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/malwarebytes-premium
Try the version which gives a 2 week trial and decide if it is worth $40 to you.

If you want cheaper and you have several devices to protect, I looked at the bottom of the MBAM review then priced Bitdefender.
    3 devices costs $29.99. Source: https://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/antivirus.html
Kaspersky has the same offer $29.99 for 3 devices. Source: https://usa.kaspersky.com/antivirus

I haven't installed Norton nor McAffee for years and don't recommend either of those programs.
