Important Notice: A new version of SUPERAntiSpyware is available.
    • Please uninstall your current version (this is necessary).
    • Then download this SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Install this new version. It may tell you that you need to reboot to complete the installation. You must reboot at this time.
    • After the reboot, run SUPERAntiSpyware and immediately click the Check for Updates button to get more updates for the database.
    • Now run a new full scan of your system. And attach this log later.

Malware Bytes was also outdated so open up the program, locate the UPDATE tab, let it update > re scan fix anything it may find and attach the log regardless.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    Fix following lines if present

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

You need to run combofix again, all I got in that log was the header. Do not mouse click or touch the keyboard during it's run.

The version of MGTools you ran is also outdated by over three months, so...

Go to this MGTools and download the new version of MGtools.exe. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one. Run the new C:\MGTools.exe and attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip into your next reply.

Also... important : You did not leave any kind of description about what kind of malware issues you are having. I am seeing nothing in the logs. Perhaps if you describe to me what's going on I can better decide how to proceed. :)

My laptop got hit with the Ramnit virus and I lost ALL my icons and toolbars except the background pic is still there. The only way I could access majorgeeks.com was to go to task manager and run a new task for internet explorer. Attached are some updated logs. Thanks for the instructions to run HijackThis. Hopefully, someone that reads this will be able to help me restore my laptop. Thanks in advance!

This is almost three months later! You would need to run the procedures from scratch ensuring old software has been updated/deleted and over written with fresh versions. And also, this thread here, is this for another PC?

Yes it is 3 mos later, I got pneumonia and was extremely ill since Christmas. Just getting my strength back and able to start working on things like this.

Yes, the other link is the desktop computer. I think it seems to be working okay now. I am still missing the pic icons on the User Accounts profile settings box.

At this point, I attempted to reinstall Windows XP on the laptop (first post about Ramnit) but unfortunately, its an older version and now it doesn't work at all. :(

So, if it's the desktop we are working on you need to run all of the scans again so we can get a fresh look on what is going on. Attach the logs when you are ready. I am so sorry to hear you got taken ill. Glad you are on the mend now! :)
