Was having many problems with inconsistent internet and browser problems as well as extremely slow computer. I followed the instructions from this post: Vista & Windows 7,8,10 Malware Removal/Cleaning Procedure" and I have attached LOGS - can someone please help me? Thanks in advance.

Please remove what Hitman found. Reboot and rescan with Hitman ahd RogueKiller as it did not populate correctly. Attach the new logs.

thank you so much - please find attached logs requested.
I asume my computer was infected by something yes? Assuming yes, I fear the infection could have come by my external drive (used for back-up but has been plugged into many other computers that weren't mine). How do I safely clean an external drive if such a thing could be the source of what I had?

    If this is your drive:

    C:\Users\Sabrina\OneDrive\Documents

Hitman cleaned it. MBAM should also be able to scan an external drive.

    How are things running now?

still having problems. When I open Facebook, for example, it won't scroll down beyond a page, and then within a few minutes, browser is giving me "no internet" or "DNS error". Ugh.

Have you tried a different browser?

no browser works. ) - windows troubleshooting results in "DNS server isn't responding" -

Restarts bring internet back. I can get emails via outlook. I can open a browser and get online. I can surf everywhere just fine for as long as I like. BUT as soon as I go to Facebook the problems return. FB loads three posts, and nothing more (e.g., cannot scroll endlessly). Then surfing away to other sites yields "no internet" or DNS error.

So it only happens when you go to Facebook? Are you typing in the URL or using a shortcut? This doesn't seem like malware on your system as much as a possible hack on Facebook. Does this happen with every browser?
You never attached a log from ADWCleaner.

I access FB via chrome - I have FB book-marked in chrome.
As to logs, see attached, sorry thought those were up

reset Chrome to defaults. Restarted computer. Same problem. It really seems to be about opening FB. Once I open FB, I'll open other tabs in Chrome, connect to other sites, and then I see a DNS error message flash then quickly a "no internet" message.

After doing your suggestion, when I opened FB, I had to go through the whole log-in 2-step authentication method. That got me onto FB, but again, three posts load, no endless scroll. Then all symptoms noted in last post arise.

I'm doing al this on behalf of my wife. If you ask me, it is a blessing in disguise, as I hate all the time she spends on FB! But she conducts some business on there, so I have to get this thing fixed at some point.

Use a different browser....type in the url for Facebook and tell me if it occurs.

OK. I used explorer, got onto FB - still have internet. Interestingly, FB is not working on explorer either - cannot get past third post on FB, no infinite scroll. I've searched Google for trying to understand what is going on here....have you ever encountered anything like this?

turns out the internet went down after a few more minutes, but again, only when FB has been opened

Did you get the DNS message and the no internet message? If not.....then I suggest you completely remove Chrome, run CCLeaner and reboot. And yes, I have often got FB to only show a very few posts on my TL. It is a function of FB and not a computer issue with you.

Yes the DNS and then it quickly refreshes to say no internet - on both chrome and IE.
I have rebooted a bunch. "DNS-no internet" problem does not come back unless i visit FB. However, I have noticed that as I surf around (i put on Netflix, Youtube, let several vids pla and had static sites open) several of those pages that once came up as "secure" (as noted in the top left part of the browser address bar) theyu read "not secure" - and these are sites that were once secure (e.g., superanitsoftware.com is no longer). When I use another laptop, the same sites come up secure. Not sure what this means.....

Just rereading your post. So I guess the accurate answeetr to your first question is "Yes, even on IE, I got the 'DNS-no internet' message."
BTW, years agoe we had a problem and I used your forums to help me -since then, have run CCleaner weekly, Malware Bytes, Superantispyware, and Spybot search and destroy on regular basis....

Also now noticing that although i am using chrome and can see my avatar in the upper right corner of browser, it says "paused" next to my avatar. When i click on it there's a blue button sign in, but under it are several options such as paswords...when I click on passwords, it shows me a list of sites and passwords....it makes no sense, if im not signed in, why can i access all those passwords?

Please download the latest version of FRST the below link.
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: Make sure you download the proper version ( 32 bit or 64 bit ) for your PC. Only one will run, the correct one. So it you make a mistake and download the wrong one, go back and get the other.
    • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your next reply.
    • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

It appears that you did not follow my suggestion of uninstalling Chrome and running CCLeaner. Any reason for that?

I misunderstood. Above you said "Did you get the DNS message and the no internet message? If not.....then I suggest you completely remove Chrome," and since the answer to that question was yes, i did not do. My bad. I will do that and then what?

I have also tried other browsers that ran fine...until i typed in facebook.com and logged in...then same thing, FB loads but you cannot scroll (or have any links, functions work), then DNS errors followed by "no internet. This happens on every browser. Do you want me to remove them as well? Not sure I could with IE....

Sorry...it was late and I was not clear. I meant that if you had no issue with another browser to then uninstall Chrome.
However, if it happens in all browsers and only affects FB, this is not a malware issue. FB is crappy about responding to bug reports.
I suggest you post in the software forum and seek advice on connecting to facebook....maybe start with opening a command prompt and pinging FB.

ok, thanks for clairfying. So I went back to work today and have been disconnected from this thread - thanks for hanging in there with me. Yes, it happens on all browsers, but what I find weird is how once I go to FB and symptoms begin, .opening new tabs (no matter which browsers) still results in DNS errors/no internet messages. So i typically can only "solve" it by restarting computer and then never going to FB. Does that still sound like a FB issue? Shouldn't new tabs function just fine? I'd have thought yes, but they don't. Ugh!

Well, if you can surf the net with all browsers without issues and it only happens when you try to get on FB, I would think something is wrong with your FB page. Do you know how to do a ping test?
