   Are there malware scanners for Unix/Linux or Ubuntu or similar? Also software firewall?

   and IPTables are the firewall solutions.
   I use neither so I can't help with any questions on usage.

   Ubuntu uses ufw for a simple firewall.
   
   There's ClamAV for anti-virus. There is no anti-malware really.

   i had a try with avg for linux (mandriva) but decided i didn't need it, there is also panda anti-virus for ubuntu,
   both are free
