My son visited a site which is known to have malware according to Norton.

Despite the warning he proceeded and manged to download "Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin" as he wanted to view a video.

I have been looking into removing it, it comes up in add remove programs.

I have no idea if it is really malware although it states that the publisher is "Microsoft Corp" but when I go to uninstall the publisher comes up as "An unidentified program wants access to your computer"... "Unidentified Publisher"

What to do, is it safe to proceed with the uninstal?

    Justin

    Thanks for responding TimW.

I hope that your right but I am not sure its the same thing for the following reasons:

It doesn't come up within Firefox Addons

It isn't called "Microsoft® Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin" its called "Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin"

    I couldn't find np-mswmp.dll

The link I gave you was to the Windows Media Player plugin for FireFox. If you are still concerned, you can uninstall it. ;)
