I am using MBAM Home (Free) Version 2.2.0.1024. In fact I have been using MBAM for long now. Since recently I see that the software pops itself automatically and kind of inserts itself, checking for updates or scanning. This was not the case earlier. When I go through the settings, I find that the scheduled scan options have been disabled in the free version. Apparently it is available in the paid Pro version. While I can honestly understand the software vendor's intent, the intrusive nature of their attempts are very irritating. Moreover, it also slows down other processes. Any way out ?

Maybe when you last updated it you accidentally clicked ok with the check boxes 'run the free Pro trial'. It's easy to miss it.
But even in the free version if you go into Settings > Update Settings > you can adjust them there.

Thank you. In update settings, I don't see any option concerned with preventing MBAM automatically popping up and staying in the task bar. However there is an option to suppress checking for program updates while checking for database updates. Guess that is useful. The applicable setting, it appears is in Scheduling the scan, which is available in the paid version only. May be I did miss unchecking the box 'run the free Pro trial'. May be next time I will be watchful. Anyway Tks for the time & effort.

I suspect you are right, and allowed the free trial of the Pro version, since wouldn't get any such pops ups in the free-only version.
If you want to stop that happening completely right now - before the end of the free trial - you should do a total clean uninstall of MalwareBytes, restart your system, and then download a new free version set up file and in the final install windows UNCHECK the free trial option,

I guess that is what I have to do. May be, I will do it some time. For the moment, I will probably live with the popup. Thanks once again. Will however keep you posted.
