While MBAM is still (IMO) the finest malware scanner/remover/protection app around, it seems that with this new release came a HUGE lag. There's a gap between the end of installation and the main MBAM window opening up and I've seen it happen on EVERY system I've installed it on (at least 15; I use it to remove malware on a daily basis). I know it has nothing to do with system performance; I tried it on a brand new C2D system with 2gb of DDR2 on a clean XP install and there was still the long lag of over a minute (maybe 2) from the closing of the install to the opening of the main menu... has anyone else noticed this? Am I just impatient? Or crazy?
    ;)

(everything else about the newest MBAM release is perfect!)

Funny you should mention that. I had no problems on a Windows XP Pro SP2 laptop, but on the Windows XP Media Center Edition SP 2, Malwarebytes didn't open as expected after the update and I thought something had gone wrong. I checked taskmanager, and it was running, but I couldn't get it to open up for me. I ended it in taskmanager, then opened it again using the desktop icon. I clicked on 'update' and it installed the database. When I had updated the laptop, the program update and the database were downloaded and installed at the same time apparently, as on the laptop I also clicked on 'update' right after the program update and I was told the database was up to date.

I figured I may have inadvertantly messed something up by closing Malwarebytes too early in taskmanager (perhaps the database did not get updated because I closed the process too early), so the next day I uninstalled and reinstalled and everything is fine.

Judging from your experiences, DomLuc and Dlb, if I had given it a bit more time, the update on my MCE probably would have completed without my interference. ;) I think the update on my laptop had a lag as well, but it didn't seem to take quite so long. (I'm not sure about that, but I know with the laptop, I wasn't thinking there might be something wrong, whereas with the MCE it took so long that I did think something had gone wrong and then I started tinkering. :))

I've noticed it too on 2K and XP. I have it installed on 5 of the computers in my home. (One has never gone on the internet in windows and is not networked and the other is linux only).
