    I've been paying for it the last couple of years, less that $20 a year, and was wondering if the free version is just as good. I guess the 1 advantage for the pro version is it auto scans daily where the free version requires manual scans.

    Try it and see if you like it. You can always decide to pay later if you prefer constant protection.
    Fortunately I have 5 life time licenses for the Windows computers. On my android devices, I run the free version. I update it manually on the android devices. I don't run scans too often simply because I don't surf much on them.

    Normally most any review will rate it at "Excellent", but remember nothing is perfect. Kaspersky has a nice product with TDSSKiller.

    One claim to fame for mbam has normally been that it will install even in the presence of malware. I 've always liked it and use it on all my devices.
