Many old NTUSER.DAT files

Hello everyone,

My question regards out-of-date NTUSER.DAT files. I understand that they are essential registry files but in my main user folder there are 49 of these files. A couple have today's date but all the others have different dates as far back as August 2007. They date back to a period when I had to roll back and forth several times between Restore Points. Is it safe to delete the old ones? TimW has just finished helping me with a trojan scare over in the Malware Removal forum and am in cleaning mode!

If they're not causing you any problems or taking up gigs of space I'd leave them alone for now.

 

The total size is 16 MB and, no, they are not causing any issues (as far as I know). So better safe than sorry, uh? The current NTUSER.DAT file shows as a Video CD movie type. I read somewhere that it is because it opens with a media reading program. Why is that?
