    Hi everyone,
I am new here and i am not an expert but i would like some help from some pple in the "know". I am having this problem playing a game called Maplestory.
Recently i had my hard drive replaced. Since then, reinstalled but something strange is happening.Inside the game....when i am in town,in particular Edelstein....right side of town ,no problems...but when i walk to the left side i start freezing up and it moves like in frame per 10 seconds or something.Took my PC to the shop and they could not find a solution to it.They reinstalled the Windows (XP pro)...still same problem. Now i don't have that problem in any of the other rooms/screens....only in this part of town.So strange.
Has anyone got any ideas as to what could be the problem?
here is some data on my Graphic card as i am not sure what you need:

    Hi

Do you have any devices in Device Manager with any yellow ! marks by them and if so what? (enter Device Manager by clicking Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager, their are other ways too access it liek STart > Run and type devmgmt.msc)

    Are your drivers upto date?
What is your PC make and model if its a OEM build one like Dell, HP, ACER etc, need make and model version as we may need to install some drivers.

Is the game fully upto date? as in all current patches installed as soem may fix game bugs.

Is this the only game or application that causes this graphical issue?

*it is possible that your onboard Intel graphics card is not powerful enough to run the graphics on any new updates in the game as the more games are developed the more they are starting to need better graphic cards, especially alot of the MORPGS.

I have similar lag and stutter on Lord of the Rings Online, and I know my hardware can handle that game. I get it in really busy parts, like the main towns and hubs, because there's just so much people and there's too much going on for the server and connection to keep up. If I go outside town, the lag goes away.

After you've tried everything David suggested, if you still have this problem, lower your graphics settings, especially the ones that control spell effects, shadows, weather and the like. That might help.

Thank you for your replies. It is an older ThinkCentre from IBM.Recently it heated up real bad and shut down. I rang the IBM Help-Desk and the guy told me it could be a combination of different things.
Mother-Board suffered from the heat-up or
the graphic card not strong enough as it is a 5-6 years old PC

In any-case apparently it was not worth sending it in for repair as it would cost me more that what it is worth...and to replace things like Fan,motherboard, graphic card and a few more things....it would cost me as much as building a new one.
I can understand that for sure....so i went to the shop and asked them to build me one.I am getting it tomorrow and will tell you all the specifics of it.Seems a good one and apparently it will more than definitely handle the game and even more if i wanted to.
thank you for your help David and Mimsy. I really hope it will work well.
    Will keep you updated.

Good call, and definitely a better use of your money than repairing an old system.

Let us know how it turns out! :)

    Oh yeahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!....works like a charm now.Absolutely wonderful.
so let's see.....not a big deal....basic things but reasonably new and good ....for what i need it.
    i5 2400 3.1Ghz 1155 socket
    WD 1000GB SATAIII 16MB
    WINDOWS XP PRO
    GA-P67A-UD3R 1155,DDR3,SATA3 USB3.0
    LG DVD DUAL SATA BURNER
    ATI RADEON HD 5770 1GB DDR5
    STANDARD PSU 750W SILENCE4GB DDR3 1333

That's about it....at least it works well now....and only about $650...not too bad i guess. He also installed lots of little things like Photo shop,office,Kaspersky....so it is ok
Thank you for your help guys and girls

For $650, that's not a bad system... and more than capable of running Maple Story. Enjoy the game! :)

    Hi

Personally with the hardware spec of that PC I would go with Windows 7 x64 as it will help run Photoshop really well (what version of Photoshop do you have?).

How much RAM does it have and if at 4GB then more a nudge to go Win7 x64.
