I have mapped drives to a server. I would like to disconnect (permanently) a couple of them. when I disconnect them and log off/on again they reappear. How do I get rid of them? btw, I am runnign xp sp2.

This sounds like you have a login script running. Are there any windows that appear and quickly disappear when you restart your machine? Ask your system administrator!

yes I do have a login script. So that would have to be edited. Unfortunatly I am the system administrator (sort of) I have a consultant who does most of it. I just know enough to be dangerous.

I'm willing to wager that it is a batch file and that it issues the command
net use (drive letter) (network folder) to map your drives, if that's of any help. You would find the name of your login script by looking at the properties of your user object in active directory users and computers (profile tab IIRC). Problem is that editing this script will affect all users that login with that script.

I see. Well I cant change it for everyone, that would be bad. Maybe there is another solution. My problem is I have a mapped server drive with the letter f:, when I connect a device to my computer, like a card reader or my ipod it trys to take drive letter f:, which couses conflicts. Is there anyway to have it assign a different letter to the other devices?

You could create yourself a unique login script...all it takes is dos commands.
If you could locate your login script, copy it under another name, all you would have to do is change the f mapping in it to another letter, and change your profile to use the new script.
