Mapping And Saving A Path To Network Drives

I use a program called MyFolders. It creates a Right click menu option in File Explorer that then allows you to map a path to and save that mapped path to any external drive or other computer on your network. It appears this program has some “fatal” flaws that I have come across. I am wondering if there are any other programs that will allow you to map and save a path like MyFolders does and if you would recommend it?

    Thanks

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for.
If I want the full path of something holding down the shift key while right clicking the file or folder, it copies the full path.
The full path is sent to the clipboard and I can paste the full path into a text file to see where the item is actually located.

Sorry if that is not what you meant.

Sounds like a solution looking for a problem. What's the problem with Explorer's right click > Send To?

I will try to explain this as clearly as I possibly can using the MyFolders program that I am using now. I have many, many folders on different computers and on 5 external drives attached to my "main" computer. So lets say I want to send a file to the attached drive with the drive letter being "H" and the folder on that drive being "Icons" and the file being "Amazon." I right click the "Amazon" file, choose MyFolders, choose "copy" from MyFolders' sub-menu, click on "H" drive, drill down until I find and choose the folder "Icons." If this is the first time I copied anything to that folder MyFolders asks me if I want to save the path to that folder. I say yes and the file is placed in that folder. Now the next time I want to send a file to that same folder I right click the file, choose MyFolders, choose copy, and the path to that folder is there and available to choose as the files destination. I do not have to do anything but pick the exact folder I want to copy to. Now imagine I have I have 100 folders I use and save files to very often (I do.) After MyFolders creates the path one time it remains there as a choice any time I want to use that folder.

Now I have to say MyFolders is a great program but I believe I have found flaws in it that has caused me many headaches. So I am trying, without any luck, to find a substitute program that would work the same but may now have the flaws I believe I discovered with MyFolders. Until I do, I am using MyFolders with some restrictions I have put on myself for the use of this great program

I sure hope this explains what I am saying and asking for. I do not just want to save a mapped paths, I want the convenience of using that mapped path over and over with as little an effort as MyFolders gives me.

Please see my post plodr. I am not trying to create a problem, I am looking for a solution to a problem I have. "Send To" cannot even come close to what I am asking for and have using the program MyFolders. BUT I do have a problem with it that I would like to avoid if there are any other programs that do the same thing as MyFolders does.

My main concern with my data files is to ensure I don't end up with multiple copies of the same file which may possibly contain differences due to updating of the original. Your approach virtually guarantees that that will happen. Send To stores just links to the originals so updates will also be in the shortcuts. Could MyFolders be set to store links rather than copies?

Not sure you are understanding me. When I make changes to a file, I want to save that new file to other folders so I have backup files. I do this with all my data files. If any change is made to any of my data files, that is then the file I want to save. MyFolders creates and saves shortcuts to any folder I want to use for storing that backup file.

Well you've certainly managed to make file backup complicated, but as long as you do backup that's fine. Can't help with your original question, sorry.

Windows drive mapping is built in Explorer, but I use CMD. Start>Run>CMD then type in net use H: \\computername\folder
    Check this out https://www.howtogeek.com/118452/how-to-map-network-drives-from-the-command-prompt-in-windows/
I have 2 NAS devices that are persistently mapped, so when I log on I have "drives" N, W, X, Y mapped to specific folders (shares) movies, music, & a share for passing files between PCs.
In the business world mapped drive are usually part of one's log on script, so you could keep them in a batch file in your start up folder.

Sorry, I've never used a program called My Folders.
I'd never do anything like that.
If the main computer gets infected, you've now also infected the 5 external drives connected to it.

I copy what I want to another device then remove it from the PC.
We have 7 computers in the house and 8 external hard drives. I don't have file sharing turned on.
