If he didn't know what to do with the duplicate file remover then he has most likely removed vital startup/registry/???.

Did he do a back-up before running the cleaner? If not can you get to system restore and find a point before the cleaner was ran?

The beeps are actually telling you exactly why it won't continue loading. Sort of like morose code. Do you have the disks which came with the comp.? You may be able to use it to re-install the drivers/software needed to get the system back to starting up.

I can't say if it's RAM or not, but it is hardware. You can google for your BIOS maker and you'll get a list of codes and what they mean.

Thanks augie, I forgot to expand on the beeps. There should be descriptions in the user manual if that is available.

From another board regarding 3 short beeps.
This error is linked to the memory. Try reseating the memory and/or swapping the RAM. Also, verify that the video card is securely seated.

I don't know what else to say except I hope you have the OS disks. You may be looking at re-installing. I know we only like to use this as a last resort but this one is beyond my knowledge.

Maybe someone will come along with a better direction for you to take.
