I am upgrading to a sata from ide, the new drive is much larger than the old and is not partitioned in half, is the old one is. I am using ghost 9.0 on a xp os. My Question is do I need to copy the master boot record as well,or will this copy unwhated perameters onto the new drive.

I believe if you have SP2 installed for XP ghost will clone the old drive on to the new one and resize the partition to take advantage of the full size of the drive. It should be as simple as that. I'm not sure about ghost but I know that with acronis true image it is as simple as that..........

Ghost gives me the option of coping the master boot record, so I guess ill leave it unchecked thanks for the advice.

Are you cloning the stuff off your old drive to the new one so you can boot your OS from it? If you are, then you should copy the master boot record. I use XXClone, and that is the 'make bootable' option. If you are just using the new drive as storage, then don't copy it.
