My doc put me on maternity leave at 30 weeks. (last week) and It isnt as relaxing as I thought it would be. I am bored, sleepy, in pain. My back hurts, my feet hurt, my head hurts, my boobs hurt, everything hurts. and I can't just sleep it off bc i still have school work to do and i can't get into a pos. that we both agree on to sleep in longer than 20-30 minutes. Tylenol has stopped working. I just want to scream sometimes..... :)

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    Dear non-smiles,
I hear you, dear, I really do. I am so sorry for your discomfort. Have you tried one of those long body pillows? They do take up a lot of room, but you can kind of wrap yourself onto it and really rest your back or that beautiful baby-belly too.

Do you like to read? Have you gone through the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" Book? or (by the same publisher/authors) "What to Expect the First Year" (or maybe it says, "The first 12 months" -- I can't remember because I've given mine away). Those are great books and fill you with anticipation.

The best is yet to come. You can do it! You are a woman -- and a mom!

i agree with pegg on the body pillow, also im a mother of 4 kids and i found a few drops of lavender oil in a warm bath, and on my pillow and a nice drink of Horlicks before i went to bed....worked for me.

Try some Traditional Medicinal's Pregnancy Tea. It's raspberry leaf tea, and it helps prepare your body for the work ahead. Really helped with some of my aches and pains as your bones start softening.

Best wishes. do you know what you're having?

thanks cindy! I will try that. I am having a boy. :) and we are nameing him Landyn Michael.

and no I didnt name him after the actor Michal Landon from little house on the prarie. I named him after his father and the first movie his father and I watched together.

FIrst movie is my favorite chick flick movie... A Walk To Remember with Mandy moore and Shane West in it. Shane plays a char. named Landon that is a bad azz and falls in love with a goody goody christian girl that has cancer and he asks her what her dreams were and he made all of them happen and then she died.

Michael comes from his father. His father's name is Mike.. aka Michael....

we both love the name... :) our baby shower is this saturday!

WHEN THE HELL DID YOU GET PREGNANT???? Congratulations! Was this planned or a happy accident, and is daddy sticking around or do i get to go hunting? What happened to Nursing school?

And tell me about it! I gained 130lbs in water weight and was pregnant through summer. I was put high risk half term got left a week before i gave birth, was in labor for 22 hours with contractions that started at 11 and it sucked bigtime. wont be doing that again anytime soon... But I have the best kid ever, so its not like i need to anyway :p

I can't make a 100% determination on that due to the sheer number of Kodoisms that took place during that time frame.

Like I was going to suggest, ask Wenchie, she is chief at the woes.

    And woes be told.

Like tabasco on a cold sore. Not all that great, but the pain is not remembered after it is all done.

Then again, I was on the other side of the bed with the breathing bit.....

Lamaze got me through 2 labors. Had to get a little pain relief with Kolya because I wasn't progressing and after 30 hours I was exhausted. They put me on Pitocin to step up the labor and Stadol to get me some rest between contractions, and it wore off just in time to start pushing. Kolya was born 6 hours later. I had Drexel completely natural and it went great.

Pay attention to the different breathing techniques that they suggest. When it's time, try out a few different ones and you'll find out what is most effective for you. Look into getting Mike a copy of "the Birth Partner" by Penny Simkin http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1558320105/002-5987698-6268858?v=glance great book for your support person. It's their job to help you stay focused and remind you of those suggestions. You may also want to have a couple of friends with you at the birth to rub your back, feed you ice chips, take pictures and video if you want that, etc. I had Eric and 3 friends at Kolya's and 4 at Drexel's, and 4 was perfect. I usually wanted Eric holding my hand right by my face (have him bring gum or mints - nothing worse than someone with bad breath blowing in your face while you're giving birth), and my girlfriends were the ones doing the brunt of the work pushing on my back, adjusting pillows, and trading off, etc.

If you don't think there are any friends that would want to go with you, you could look into a doula. I was fortunate that one of my friends at both births was an experienced doula. She was really soft spoken. I hardly needed the nurses at all, and it was nicer for me, because the people around me were all people that I knew well.

Are you having a midwife deliver the baby or a Dr? Hospital, birthing center or home? I was in a birthing center in a hospital. I felt more secure being right there if something went wrong.

    Best wishes to you! :)

    Cindy
