    Most physical or electronic calculators have a square root function - physical or electronic calculators

    Apologize on the double post - didn't mean to. Hit "post" to soon when correcting my "guidance" here.

    It so happens that the default Microsoft calc doesn't have a square root function.

    BTW: answer is 14.142135623730950488016887242097 Hopefully that is accurate enough for you.

    :confused: I'm using Win2K and the Scientific and Standard views of the calculator (calc.exe) have this function.

    yeah for xp and im guessing the rest of the series, it doesn't coem with the sqaure root button. But I know almost 99% of the physical calculators out there do. You can also go to www.calculator.com

    the X Y button does this.. Y is your parameter, in this case 0.5

    Thanks for the answer guys. Didn't know Win 2K had the scientific funtion to it.

    Anyways, the answer I got was 5.3955415242913291844693740611316 for the entire formula.

    The forumla is L=0.0001351ND(P raised to the 0.5 power)

    N=353
    D=8
    P=200

    This forumla is for calculating acceptable leakage in a 5100 linear ft. 8" water main. 200 is the psi at which the 2 hr test is, 353 is the number of joints that are in the line.

    Anyone able to check my math?

    Just FYI:
    The xcalc comes fully equipped with a square root key, reminds me of the Texas Instruments TI 32. Now, that's a calculator!

    BTW:
    Isn't it pretty?

    Wait a minute!
    Its got it, but in a more general way...
    in the exponent function...

    x^y

    key, you can find the square root (or other powers).
    For the square root, enter (1/2) or 0.5 for the y value....
