   Trying to solve a problem for a friend with an old laptop.
   His CD/DVD doesn't work it's a Matshita UJDA740.
   It came with his Dell Inspiron 5100.
   I tried to reinstall it using the original XP reinstallation cd.
   No Luck.

   Tried a different cable?
   You need to be more specific than just saying "doesn't work". Does it appear in the device manager and my computer? When you put in a CD, do you get an error? When you put in a DVD do you get an error?
