Matsui MP3 player causing freeze-up

I've got a Matsui 2Gb MAT120MR that causes my Win 98SE system to freeze-up whenever I try to open it through the 'My Computer' folder on the desktop.

It was previously malfunctioning by not playing all the songs on the MP3 player, so after clearing the files off, and using the standard Windows Scandisk to check for errors (of which there was one), I hoped it would be fine, but alas no.

I've had a swift rummage around this site, and haven't found anything relevant, so apologies if this has already been asked and answered elsewhere on the forum.
