Maximum file cache size

I just ran a test at PC Pitstop & it reported that my maximum file cache size was 96. How can I set it to allow Windows handle it? I am running Win98SE (still ) with 512mg ram.

 

Darn I forgot what the lines were. sorry.....

 

Hmmm, I just checked like you suggested and it is already checked to allow Windows to handle it.

Thanks for the help nomad837, but I forgot to mention that I am running Cacheman. Should I still have the "Allow Win to manage" checked in Virtual Memory? Also, do you know what the Min/Max settings should be if I choose to manage myself? Again, I am running Win98SE & 512mg ram.

 

Set it manualy in C:\windows\system.ini under Vcache Type MaxFileCache=65536 and MinFileCache=32768. That will set a max cache of 64mb and a min cache of 32 or you can set your own. Its an old trick . oh Virtual Memory has nothing to do with file cache..........

 

Thanks ACE 256. I'm not really comfortable messing with my system.ini as I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I was hoping the Casheman program would set it automaticly.

 

Here try cachebooster i used it in my win 98 days. Its a little program the lets you adjust the chache manualy or choose from deforent presets
