Maximum Upload Speed?

What is the maximum upload speed on a DSL connection?
I don't have cable in my area so I get Internet through a normal BT (British Telecom) phone line.
Currently, my max seems to be 30kbps. I phoned my ISP (BT) and the guy (yes, he was Indian lol) said it won't go higher than that.

 

Depending on the isp, but we (kansas) offer 1.5 meg down and 384 k up for the standard package. Dsl has a max of 8 megs, so I would call back thats definitaly not right as far as speed.

 

I am on the 2mbps package. I think it limits me to 30kbps upspeed.

I think I should be able to ring them however and get them to increase it a bit. It does seem unusually slow even for a 2mbps connection imo.

You're saying it *could* be faster right?

 

Theoretically.

If the ISP doesn't have the equipment, money, or you are too far away, you may as well forget it. What does your modem train at?

 

Another thing to look into, for faster UPspeeds is a buisiness line. Typical home users will download more, than upload. Unless you are hosting a site or sharing files...... :|

Why do you want your upload speeds increased?

 

I'm not sure. Is there a test to do so I can find out? I use a Linksys WAG354G (very similar to the WAG54G).

@theefool, I already have a business account. I upload my own music often, I find the 30kbps limit often is not fast enough. If I upload a 100mb file (which I often do) it takes hours.

 

I'm not sure...it would most likely be on the status page.
