HERE is some information which should help.

Maxtor also have the MaxBlast utility, but that is a last resort.

If you say the drive was detected before you formatted, then it shouldn't have anything to do with Bios. (Unless a program like MaxBlast was used)

I can't offer any help on that utility as I've never used it.

Also, have you tried all the suggestions I linked like THIS one for example?

Read Maxtor's white paper on drive size limits here.

Now that you've updated your BIOS, make sure that it is set for LBA addressing for that drive.

You haven't said what OS or filesystem you're using, so be prepared to deal with information that isn't applicable to your circumstances. Read the link provided by Insomniac carefully. The answer is probably in there somewhere -- depending on the OS and filesystem you're trying to use.

The most probable cause of that problem is the bios, check your motherboard bios provider site in able to check for any updates available. and do not push it hard, you might possibly break the integrity of the drive. your software that comes with the HD? isnt it? should be check for manuals. but i'll try to check on that.

    Read the post again.

He said before he formatted that it was detected properly, and that he has updated his Bios.

If that's the case, then the Bios can't be responsible.

You try a program that you can download from maxtor called powermax but you would have to get a version of it that's for your harddrive.

Hmm, I cant use Power max because im not using serial ATA, Atleast thats what it says, IM running windows XP Pro, NTSA i think is the file format

If his computer says he only has 33 gig after formatting his file format would not be fat 32 because that file format will only recognize up to 4 gig, it might be a compatilbily issue with the bios.:(

http://clubweb.interbaun.com/mward/tips15.html not to argue but that is not what I read. fat32 up to 32gig partition not 4

Im wondering if my harddrive is just bad, cuz it wont clean all the way, everytime i say erase all, it says it did and goes to 122gb but then in windows it gives me 33gb, but still askes befor windows starts up, which op i want to run
I think i accedently put xp on that second hdd, ALKSDJF THIS IS SO ANNOYING lol

Firstly, FAT32 supports up to 2 Terrabytes.

4GB is the file limit that Windows can address. It has nothing to do with hard drive size.

Tequila, I suggest you double-check the link I posted as I believe you are doing something wrong.
