After using Norton for the last 2 years a friend reccommended me trying McAfee.
So far it's all installed and updates are all done.

I just have a couple of queries really.

    I'm running 2005 v.6 on a windows xp service pack 2

    Firstly I noted two things:
    Privacy Service
    Spam Killer

You get a 30 day free trial with both. I have plenty of spyware programmes so the spam killer doesn't bother me too much. It's just the Privacy Service that is bugging me.
It says my personal info is at risk blah blah. Now shouldn't this fully upto date Virus protection and firewall automatically protect me from this? Or do I NEED to invest in that Privacy service? Anyone have it? Anyone NOT have it and it's not hurt their pc?

Secondly .. I selected the Blue alerts and now I'm getting a pop up message every 5 seconds saying a connection attempt was blocked from various IP address.
Is this normal if you select blue alerts? What is your advice on that?

Also, I've noticed I now see lots of adverts on webpages. While I do have a pop up ad blocked - can anyone reccomend a free download to stop me seeing this junk please?

I've been using McAfee internet security suite all this year. Firstly I suggest that you reduce the alerts to red only that saves all that needless annoying alerts. Secondly I have anti-spam and privacy bundled with mine. I installed the lot to start with but found it really slowed down my PC's performance and it's usually pretty good. So I then unistalled Privacy and anti spam works a treat now and I don't really think you need the others particularly the Privacy it's a right ain to use.
    Hope this helps!

Ah so does the Spam stop the ads on the web pages? After the free trial, how much does it cost? It's only offering me 30days free you see.

And my PC will be safe without the privacy thing?

Thanks so much for your help.

SpamKiller does not stop the ads from showing, thats the Privacy Services job...here the link btw for SpamKiller prices: http://us.mcafee.com/root/package.asp?pkgid=156

May I ask what browser you are using?(Internet Explorer, FireFox).

I'm using I.E, firefox doesn't seem to like my pc.

Whe I had Norton I didn't get any of these adverts on my webpages. My pop up blocker does a great job with the rest. It's just the ones on the webpages I see now. I actually have the Privacy 30 day trial selected.
