McAfee Virus Scan Professional version 9 (HELP!!!)

    I Am having problems getting any of my McAfee products to update. I purchased McAfee Version 9 back in Feb2005 for my home network and have been very happy with it until the last few weeks.

    The specific problem I am having has to do with how McAfee updates online. When the program autoupdates everything appears to update correctly however when I manually attempt to update. A web browser opens and I am asked to log into McAfee website. When I login to the site I get an error, " please logon with the same username used to register the product." I contacted McAfee and was asked to run a utility which showed the email to be a totally different address..... At first I thought I had been hacked, however I soon remembered that when I purchased the PC, McAfee was already installed. I bought a new version in Feb. which it did not ask me to register, because the previous owner of this PC had already registered. I'm hoping someone can help me reset this .ini file or registry entry so that i can simply reinstall, register correctly, and use the product I payed for. McAfee wants to charge an addtional 40$ per incident to help me with this problem any further. If there is anything i can do short of reinstalling the OS please give me some clues......
