My personal opinion is I now and have for many years dont feel the need to buy security applications when many of the best are free, ok you will basically need seperate AV, Firewall and Antimalware but when all these are combined in an all-in-one application they do tend to bog down a PC more than having all these seperate, also benefit is, its easier to troubleshoot a broken app if its a seperate.

Mcafee is good AV, but only in its Enterprise form these days, the all in ones add too many services and running processes.

In my opinion and indeed in many other peoples opinions there are free antivirus programs that are as good, if not BETTER than ones you might pay for.

You should read this post by our own anti-malware guru (Chaslang) and take your pick (my personal choice is AVG)

Remember protecting your computer isn't just about picking the right Anti-Virus product its about several other things these can also be read about in the article.
