Hi! I have some .md files on my computer, and, when I open one, it by default opens in an internet browser that I usually don't use. When it opens in the browser, I get a few extra pieces of data, akin to the html tags in html files. I assume I am opening them in the wrong program. What, exactly, if a .md file? What application do I need to open them?

Thank you. I followed the links and found MarkPad, but, when I tried to download it, I got an error stating that the web site was not found. I don't want to download from the Windows store or use an online service: I just want it to be installed locally.
