Hi peeps. I've a torrent which is an 'mdf' file - it is a game. I can't seem to find a way of running the program - can anybody help?? (apologies if I've posted this in the wrong thread!!)

Sounds illegal. I don't think we can help you. Google does wonders, though.

mdf file is a sort of copied image of a CD, you need a program to emulate that image to a virtual cd/dvd-rom drive. Most people use DAEMON tools for this.

Please report a thread next time, so we can see it, instead of making ASSumptions.

So all my picture cds i have imaged as mdf are illegal, or the linux isos that may come in mdf? Oh wait your making assumptions. Don't assume torrent + mdf are illegal, jonnybax if you still have troubles let us know, we are glad to help.

To everyone else, your embarrasing us and yourselves. Torrents are not illegal so keep your opinions to yourselves.

With all do respect MA...I don't believe I said torrents were illegal, he said GAME as far as I'm concerned downloading certain games through torrents is illegal, what game from a CD do you know that comes legally through a torrent file? unless the game has the availability to download through a torrent then maybe the poster needs to be more specific.

"A-S-S"umptions? Sorry but THAT was out of line, excuse me for trying to uphold a rule.

These were my thoughts as well. I know torrents themselves aren't illegal, but AFAIK more often than not they're used for illegal purposes, such as games.
Plus, if a reputable retail site offered a game as a torrent, wouldn't they have instructions as to what to do with the downloaded content that the OP would've at least glanced at?
Still somewhat of an assumption, yes, but in this case we have a lot to base it on.

Yes, an assumption based squarely on my knowledge that any game that is in image form that was downloaded through a torrent manager on average is likely 99% illegal. I have no physical proof to back that up, just an educated guess, I don't know of any Publishers that allows their retail games to be downloaded legally in CD image form. If there are any and this person so happens to have it then my apologies.

But that still doesn't warrant calling someone an A-S-S...(I know you didn't Shock, just saying)
