Does anyone know about the med network hiJack? I have it hitting a netowrk, i've loaded spyware search and destory adaware and Firefox. I still pulls my browser, it seems to be affecting my dns server, i've flushed my cash on my DNS server but it seems that it may be on my isp's DNS, I'm not sure though but i've changed my forwarder to a different DNS and still if i goto download.com it is the page that is found. I've found very little on it in a google search. what can i do to attack this thing?

I've been fighting this "Med Network" problem for several weeks now. I've been through Major Attitude's tutorial and done everything recommended, so I went to the last resort; I reformatted.

The first thing I did after reformatting was to install Spybot, Spywareblaster, Ad-awareSE, HackThis, and NAV 2004. All programs are the latest versions and updated with current definitions as appropriate. All was well for several days on my computer, but my wife continued to have the problems.

One by one I started adding my browser addons like ieSpell, FlashGet, Avant Browser... until I got to the Google Toolbar. Upon installing it I immediately started having problems again. So I ran Ad-aware, Spybot, NAV, and HackThis. NOTHING was found. I uninstalled the Google Toolbar, everything went back to normal. HMMMMM.

I am not happy about this. I've been using the Google Toolbar for years now. It appears that someone has somehow figured out how to feed their stupid ads through it. Try removing it on your system (in all browsers you have it installed in) and let me know if this solves the issue. Google is probably unaware they've been hacked, but I'd like to get some more data before I start in on them.

    Thanks.

It appears that the GOOGLE TOOLBAR thing was just a fluke. The problem came back.

I tend to agree that this is a DNS issue, but am a client of an ISP. I have sent them email along with the LASTINGMEMS link, requesting they rebuild their DNS, but have heard no response.

The only thing I can think of to do on my end is to manually reverse the DNS server search order. So far that seems to be working, but I am reserving judgement ;-)

Is there anything else I can do on my end? Does MY computer harbor a DNS cache I can clear? Or do I need to be more persistant with my ISP?

    Thank

Open a command prompt window by clicking Start, Run, and in the open box enter "cmd" without the quotes and click OK.

Then in the command prompt window type the below commands and hit enter:

    ipconfig /flushdns

Let me know if that helps.

Sounds good. Let me know if you have anymore problems. Use the quote anytime you like. I did not invent it! I just remembered it from somewhere and like it.

It appears that it is a DNS bug of some sort, i had to get my isp to do a flush on thier server, once they did that all was well.

I'm confused by your last two messages. Is everything working okay or not?
