    Hello,
I am having several problems. I don't know which heading to post it under. I can't open media center, I am getting error messages there, None of the anti-virus programs I run will finish...They run to a certain point then freeze the computer and shut it down and restart it. My computer is extremely slow on start up but runs fast through the programs and software when it finally opens??? I am just at a loss as to what to do. Any thoughts from anyone? Maybe where can I post this problem?
    Thank you,

I have an XP. 2002 media center version, sp3 DelI 32 bit...
I started the suggested testing yesterday that is recommened. I got all the malware sites downloaded too my desktop and got as far as malwarebites and it found a pup infection (I am repeating what I saw...I don't know very much about all this) I removed the selected infection and was asked to resart the computer, so I selected restart. Now it is stuck tryng to checkdisk, It gets hung up on the 4th and 5th steps. It took 15 hours to try to scan the files...some bad clusters were fixed but it git stuck on 49% and I shut it down hoping to bpass the check disk. Then it wouldn't boot back up saying it couldn't find the sata drive??? I turned it off and it went right back into check disk which it is doing at the moment. It tells me to strike a key in so many seconds to skip check disk, but won't respond when I do. I am writing this message on an ancient computer I keep for my grandchildren's games so I can still try to let you know what is happeneing.

    Thank you for your help.

I'm sorry I forgot one of your questionsd. I defragmented within the last 2 weeks and did all the disk cleanup and removed all the junk. But I haven't been able to run any virus cleaner...(I have avast) as it shuts the machine down at a certain point.

    Hello,
The computer was built for me by a fellow who repairs computers. I never had a cd for it. Maybe I could get one from him?

I would probably take it back to that person just be cause you are having an issue.

If they built it for you then you give them a call up and see what they want you want to do if this person has warranty installed then this person should fix the issue.

Could be some thing simple or some thing that takes years of figuring out the issue kinda person.
