Media Creation Tool Error On Windows 7

My dad's computer was crashed and he asked me to do a clean reinstall of Windows 10. I searched the internet and was told to use Windows Media Creation Tool to make a bootable USB.

To be honest, the tool is pretty easy to get started and just follow the prompt. However, after waiting around 30 minutes, it says some error happened and can't complete the process.

It is 16G Kingston USB stick.

Run the tool as administrator, should do the trick!

Note: I dont run any other distro apart from 10, and have no intention of ever running them!

The same error even run as admin.

P.S Windows 10 is quite good for me. Don't like the out of date user interface of Windows 7

If you are in an enviroment that has nothing but Win10, you are probably lucky. If you also never have any problems due to updates, security fixes, or code that needs monthly corrections, you are probably even more lucky!

Its nothing to do with luck Andy!
Here is the main issue why everyone has problems, I see it week in, week out.

Win 10 (in their wisdom) sets updates to only occur on shutdown and startup.
This is good for normal operation, but also bad for those that have no patience.

Most users are unable to fathom being told what to do by an operating system.....when its states "Do not turn off your PC", you must obey this.

Users today just want the pc to start without delays, and shutdown without delays, they will not accept anything else as acceptable.

Perhaps you can explain Andy, why I have never had a boot issue with Win10 and I have taken every update since 2015....am I just lucky?
    I don't think so.

My customers come to me and say, "my pc wont boot"???? Win10 is sh*t
It said something about performing updates, but I had to go to bed so I shut it down anyway?

What the hell do you think is going to happen?

Always amazes me how those that don't have experience with a product, are suddenly experts about it because they listen to the false news on Social Media.

@chrisdoo.......what PC are you attempting to run MCT from?

Is the 16g USB formatted with NTFS and clear of any media?

Three Win 10 systems here, all upgraded when MS were giving it away. I just don't recognise any of this. None of the machines has ever had problems, they simply work and are a pleasure to use. We are currently on 1809 which has been rock steady, so I'm wondering whether to allow 1903 when it is offered any day now. not much to gain as I see it.

1903 has a couple of cool features available most of which is the new 'Windows Sandbox' which allows you to run Win10 as a virtual machine.
This allows you to use it to test suspicious programs, web extensions, or web sites for malware or malicious purposes without having fear that it could affect your main OS.
Sandbox uses the existing Windows 10 installation media to create the image for the virtual machine!
There are some prerequisites required however.

Also, windows has added a new feature which allows you more control over future windows updates.

    @ Replicator

I have VMs at present and am well able to control updates with the existing advanced settings so, as I said, I don't think the May 19 update holds much for me, but I bet that doesn't stop me from trying it ;-)

    What error are you getting?
If possible, take a screenshot and upload it.

Does the error say 'There was a problem running this tool'?

I like Yumi (ver 2.0.6.6), its designed for Linux but is multi platform coded and works a treat with Win10!
Its only a personal choice however as I run both Linux and Windows machines, as the wolf above suggests, Rufus works a treat also and would be a great choice. ;)

Remember, your USB drive must be Fat32 formatted to support booting in UEFI mode. (Only BIOS/Legacy mode will work with NTFS formatted drives).

    Good Luck!
