    Hello
As trivial as this may seem, I cannot turn my Media streaming Off and I think this is contributing to a problem.
    Win 7 x64
Control panel>Network and internet>Network and sharing center>advanced sharing settings.
The laptop is off and I can watch your vides. The desktop is on and I can't.

Either way, how can I turn the media sreaming off??
    Thank you
    Peter

The media streaming options in the Network and Sharing Center just control whether videos stored on one machine can be viewed on another networked machine or not. But I suspect this isn't what you are wanting to control. If you are wanting to disable live video streaming in your browser I don't believe that can be done. If you click on a video on a website it will play - bandwidth permitting 0of course.

Might be wrong about this so will be interested in any other replies.

Yes, I too am interested because my desktop says it is off and the laptop says it is on.
When you go to advanced options(above) there is no provision to turn it off as in the desktop.
I'd like to add that both machines are Dell Win 7 x64 msie 9.

Can you clarify what it is you are trying to turn off - intra LAN streaming or streaming from websites?

control panel>homegroup sharing>advanced>the lap is off and the desk is on.
I am trying to turn the desk off but when I click options, that is not a choice.
As I said the pcs are almost identical.

As I don't use Homegroup (you can't unless all network machines are Win 7), I can't replicate what you are seeing. I'm still puzzled though over the purpose of trying to turn it off :confused

    Re: media streaming

You do not have to have a homegroup to see the feature as long as you have Win 7. Just follow my path in the control panel. Your streaming media setting will either be on or off. If on, try turning it off.
It seems odd that the settings are dissimilar and I wonder about functionality.

The path you are using does not exist if you do not have a homegroup. And without a homegroup the streaming settings are not on or off, they are Allowed or Blocked. You need another homegroup user to follow what you are trying to do. Sorry.
