Mem Module Latency Timing Q&A

ok, found two memory modules by the same maker, the latency and timing are both different with a price difference of only ten dollars. question: what's the difference between the modules? what performance are they targeted? links on reading more information plus first hand knowledge appreciated, thanks everyone!

Short answer: Speed.

More bandwidth means the memory needs more nano seconds to move the data, which means that the higher the frequency the higher the latencies.

Is this DDR3? If it is, the CL=7 memory is DDR3-1066 and the CL=9 memory is DDR3-1333.

 

Yes, in this circumstance it is DDR3 (PC3-8500 DDR3-1066MHz).

 

The question was raised when finding two sticks by the same manufacturer having different CAS Latency and Timing, both sticks were PC3-8500 DDR3-1066MHz.

Cas Latency: 7

Cas Latency: 9

The first one is a DDR3-1066 PC3-8500. The second one is a DDR3-1333 PC3-10600. That's why the timings are different.
