Memory Dump

Anyone knows what this may be caused by?

is there a way to uninstall or disable this thing? I have two computers which are giving this on a regular basis

 

It should be in add/remove programs. If you are unable to login, try to remove it from Safe Mode.

 

It's possible you have a faulty RAM card. Try to remove and re-insert the card because occasionally you will get a "dry joint" (as we call it in the field) connection.

I was correct in my diagnosis.

 

It is Intel Application Accelerator, and in my experience, it would have to be one of the buggiest and most useless programs ever written.

It causes nothing but trouble.

You should be able to remove it using the uninstall entry in the programs Start Menu, or failing that, Add/Remove as suggested above.

 

But would the Intel Application Accelerator be running on a homebrew system with an AMD Athlon chip??? I ask because I saw that exact same error message a number of times on my machine a few weeks ago. Boot up to the desktop and almost immediately I'd get the blue screen and the message "Windows has been shut down to preven possible damage to your system" (or words to that effect) and further down that same message -- Driver_IRQL, Notless_or_equal

In that case the error was apparently caused by a new but defective hard drive that was part of a backup system designed to create a full bootable hard drive backup. The error occured nearly every time I attempted to boot to the backup drive as I tried to troubleshoot the backup system. After I concluded the hard drive was defective and removed it from my system the blue screen and error message vanished and I haven't had any recurrence since.

So I've seen that very same error message on my AMD Athlon system, but isn't the Intel App Accelerator something that would only be running on a system with an Intel CPU???

 

The error isn't what tipped me off.

Its the fact it references IdechnDr.sys.

I guarantee those AMD systems don't. The error in itself is not limited by brand.

I guess it helps that I have internal Microsoft articles in front of me saying the same thing

 

I have AMD not Intel, so I guess I wouldn't know anything about the Accelerator programme. The Memory Dump has occured on my system so I had sent my machine to the so-called "technicians" who informed me it was caused by a faulty RAM card.

 

While a memory dump can indicate faulty memory, don't let the term 'memory' in the phrase blind you to what it is.

A memory dump is the emptying of the contents of ram to a file, which can then be debugged for additional information about the error.

Unfortunately a lot of technicians don't know this, and take the message too literally.

 

Hey Adrynalyne, thanks for the clarification on the tipoff in the error that it's the Intel Accelerator. I'd read about the problems it could cause and was scratching my head because I have an AMD cpu. All clear now. Thanks again!
