    Hi

Just bought a mem card pc133 (128) to boost my outdated P2-450. Previously I had a 64mb chip (presumably 133) in addition to a pc100 chip (64mb or more). The operating system is Win2000 Prof. There are 3 mem card slots

I took my old chip to the retailer who id'd it as a 133 ( there was no label or marking on the chip itself) and I bought a 128 chip. When I tried fitting it in I had the following problems

The new 128 chip run by itself - PC beeps urgently and wont start.

I attached all 3 (64+128+64(?) ) and once the PC started - system properties display revealed
    only 64mb of Ram

I attached the new chip (128)and the old one (64) and system properties indicates that there is 130mb of Ram attached. I would presume it to be closer to 192 with both chips

Clearly there is a conflict or incompatibility. AsDA32 doesn't give me much info.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I can include more details if needed.

    Thanks in advance

Some memory even if it is not compatable will run, for a while. I dont think you have the right ram for your pc. Another thing, onboard video will eat up some ram, depends on your video as how much. ed

Try to find the manual for your motherboard ....it will indicate what ram is compatible with your system.

BofHalo- Crucial was unable to ID the type of memory - most likely because it was custom built(not by me).

Tim- Is there any way I can ID the motherboard (I don't have a manual) and look online for a manual? I can always open up the PC but is there a software like ASDA which can give a snapshot of the PC components?

    Thanks for your help guys
