Memory Problems

I just bought a used notebook, and I have totally wiped out the old windows xp home edition, and installed Windows Xp Pro, and now it seems my memory is being ate up some where here is what its telling me Local Disk Properties Used space is 1,912,909,824 bytes 1.78 GB, ANd Free Space says 233,854,976 bytes 223MB, how in the world do I free up this space, when everything looks to be cleaned up, Please help, Thanks for your time~ Jamie

This is not a memory problem, this is a hard-drive usage problem.

When you say you wiped out XP Home edition did you format the HD using a Win98 disk to format it, or did you just install XP Pro over it?

A little more info about your LT is required to help you better. How much RAM, CPU speed, make of LT, HD size, etc.

Im sorry, Im Not sure excatly what I did when I wiped it out, I know it said something about partition, and it had 2 on there and I think I deleted both, I used the xp pro while doing so, it says I have 0.99 GB of RAM, and cpu speed not sure how to check for that but I did look under the task Manager and it says physical memory avaiable to windows is 1,038,448kb, and its a Sony vaio fj series, I dont know how to find out how big the HD is? I have alot of undetected devices in the device manager, one of them is mass storage controller, how do I get this? Thanks let me know if I need any more info.

 

Ok I found the HD it says 1.99 GB, thats when I right click on C drive, when I right click on my computer properties it says o.99 GB of RAM, do I need more RAM or bigger HD? Thanks
