I currently have the dual pack of 512x2 (1024mb) mushkin blue line memory (pc 3200), which are great! For some reason mushkin doesnt make a 1 gig stick of ram, and i want to upgrade it from 1 gig to 2 gigs of ram. If i buy another pc 3200 stick of ram but not mushkin, will it still work? or do i need to buy the same memory stick thats currently in there for it to work. Is there any downfall to this if I run 2 types of brands, if im able to do this?

Thanks for you help in advance :) !

yeah, you can mix ram brands. I don't see any downfalls with that except for one possibilty, and that is if you're running it in dual channel mode, in which case, the paired sticks of ram should match in brand and model.

ok, so if your motherboard is a granite bay motherboard, intel 865 or 875, or has an nforce 2 chipset, then stagger the ram brands (ie, put it in this order: mushkin, other, mushkin, other) to get 2 gigs. if your motherboard doesn't use dual channel, then put it in this order from left to right (mushkin, mushkin, other, other). That should lead to the best compatibility.
